Where has the time gone?

Well it has been months since I have posted a blog… everyday I have thought about you all, but didn’t have the opportunity to sit down and write. Have you missed me (rhetorical?.  Have you yearned for my knowledge (really rhetorical)?  Well, what has kept me away so long is the completion of my second book… that’s right,  book two!  What’s that?  You never thought there was enough information on AP Automation to fill one book, but now two? I can understand that, however with the completion and publication of The 8 Pitfalls in April of 2011, I was already half way through book two. The difficult thing about writing a book on emerging and changing technology is that by the time is published certain parts (but not all) will be considered out of date. I realized that this would be the case before I completed The 8 Pitfalls.  Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing broken about The 8 Pitfalls, it is just that I have learned and improved certain things.

So, here is a sneak peak into what I have learned.

  1. The idea of Cost Per Invoice is more important than I gave it credit for in The 8 Pitfalls
  2. The by-product of automation is the amount of “New Time” that is freed up. New Time is the amount of time automation gives back to the company.

The new book takes these two items and explains them in much greater detail and, in the spirit of The 8 Pitfalls, I give the reader the ability to understand the topic and then give them something they can do about it, in the form of questions and processes.

I guess I should give you the title:

The Argument to Automate: How Innovation can INSPIRE not Fire.

That’s right… Inspire not Fire. It’s a book that will help companies use their talented staff in optimal ways instead of making them professional paper pushers.

As usual, there is more to come. Over the next few weeks I am going to be giving out publishing details, as well as a video, podcasts and a speaking schedule.

Sorry for the blog gap, but I am excited about getting the new book’s ideas out to everyone to continue the conversation that was started with The 8 Pitfalls.
