(In your best “let’s get ready to rumble voice”) AND IN THIS CORNER, WEIGHING IN AT AN UNBELIEVABLE SIZE…. CHANGE! AND IN THE OTHER CORNER IS HIS OPPONENT FOR THIS MATCH. THE UNDISPUTED CHAMP THAT HAS DASHED CORPORATE DREAMS AND PRODUCTIVITY – STATUS QUO!!!
I guess that’s the best way I can introduce my next two-week series on that thing we love to hate… or just hate to hate… Change. Looking back on my career of helping companies go from a paper to automated accounting processes (Accounts Payable and Payment) the key aspect to my help has been good old change management. I have to freely admit that I have stumbled into the role of change manager. Most people who know me, especially if they have worked with me, know that I am not really good at change. I am always fearful of change for change’s sake. I am also aware that change can be good. I have been fortunate to have been in situations where change has been the only constant. In those situation I have always pointed out that change is a byproduct of growth. I think it is safe to write that if you are not changing (personally or professionally) then you are not growing. However, there is nothing worse than poorly planned and executed change. In those situations there is finger-pointing, hurt feeling and sometime lost careers.
This series is dedicated to helping you change in a positive and productive way. I am going to write about evaluating, benchmarking and developing plans to change so that people don’t lose their minds, careers and sanity.
